Tainted Grail TTRPG: Song of a Dying World in a Nutshell

Tainted Grail: Song of a Dying World is a tabletop roleplaying game where you and your friends will explore the mysterious island of Avalon using little else but your imagination. In a roleplaying game, everyone plays a character (also called PC, for player character).

The PCs are the heroes of the story, which develops through their actions. One of the players doesn’t play a PC: they’re the game leader. Their role is to narrate the events, describe the locations visited and the characters encountered, and integrate the consequences of the PCs’ decisions and actions to the story. Together, over one or a series of game sessions, the leader and the players tell a story through their words and choices.

The rules give the framework within which the adventure can happen. What can the characters do? What are the rules of physics and magic in Avalon? Such are the questions answered by the rules’ system. Using the rules, the leader can tell whether a character’s action succeeds or not. When the outcome of a situation is left to chance – for instance, if the PCs follow the trail of a wondrous creature, or if they try to get their neighbor to trust them—the players make a check using dice to see if they succeed or fail.
